The most thrilling part of my day in New York is often astride my bicycle, the Super Star, on the morning commute. It’s a great workout, the scenery spans all of Manhattan, and of course there’s the adrenaline rush that comes with racing transit buses
I thought I’d share the excitement with this handlebar’s-eye guide to the city.

All clear on 72nd Street.

Until the cars back up. Time for evasive maneuvers.

Central Park just ahead, past the garbage truck.

Bumpety-bump down the sidewalk on Fifth Avenue...

...into Central Park...

...and down East Park Drive.

I cross town on Central Park South toward Columbus Circle.

Left turn on Broadway, where things get crazy! Can I squeeze between the cars and the double-parked National Enquirer truck?

Uh oh. Here comes Times Square.

Pedestrians are the worst because they never look for bicycles. In the distance, above the cop's head, there's a "Share the Road" sign.

Ahh, the Broadway bike lane. I can let my guard down and cruise.

Green-lane happiness ends at 23rd Street. That's the Flatiron Building on the right.

I unsaddle at 5th Avenue and 14th Street, near Union Square.

While I'm at work the Super Star hangs out here, on 14th Street.
