Every few days this seems to happen in New York. I’m walking down the street on a clear sunny day, minding my own business, when a droplet lands on my head.
I look up – and in Manhattan that’s often way, way up – but there is never anyone or anything to see. Was it a grandma watering the petunias? A slobbering Dalmatian? An eighth-grader hawking loogies?
I gingerly touch the spot and examine my fingertips. Color, clear; smell, odorless. I am baffled. What do you think it is?
Have you had a drop fall on your head and actually figured out where it came from?
Let me know. I’m scratching my head. It’s still a little damp.

Happily that’s happened to me upon my every visit (seeing as how I’m a teacher, with time off falling in the summer…except my Christmas/New Yrs. trip) and it was A/C condensation. Please pardon, it doesn’t mean to spit. Enjoy it as a considerate attempt to cool you.

Yeah, but the source was obvious because of the fish smell - a bird crapped on my head. This happened in a grocery store parking lot, I was walking back to my car and all of a sudden all the bag ‘boys’ were sprinting back to the store as a flock of seagulls were taking off. I didn’t know to do so and got tagged. Wet, yes. Took me a few hair washings to get the smell out.
Love the blog!

Air conditioners peeing on your heed it must be. In the winter, you’ll note a distinct lack of droplets (minus rain and bird poop)
